Grande Halle de la Villette,
Thursday 31st October 2013
Founded in 2010 in San Francisco, the now quintet (Daniel Tracy, Stephen Clark, and Shiv Mehra are the newest additions) Deafheaven is lead by George Clark and Kerry McCoy, two gentle looking boys, very clean and polite. But books and covers are known to be deceitful, and the five of them have developed, over their two albums (last June’s Sunbather is excellent), a caustic blend of Black-Metal, Post-Rock, and Shoegaze, as violent as it is dark. Signed on Deathwish, the record label of Jacob Bannon from the legendary band Converge, Deafheaven has federated metal heads and indie kids, with ear-and-heart melting live performances.
