Grande Halle de la Villette,
The young Lorely Rodriguez, proudly flying the colours of Brooklyn, proves that her neighbourhood stills has pull on the world’s musical scene. Though she was quickly dubbed the new Grimes, this young Latino has a more direct approach to song writing, which she does both in English and Spanish. And although she gladly surrounds herself with a variety of dance making machines, she is also capable of demonstrating some amazing piano skills when she dresses down her songs for some breath taking live performances. But Empress Of’s hallmark is her voice, both troubling and acrobatic, which will make of her one of the stars of 2014. It would be a pity to miss her concert this year.
