John Maus

John Maus is somewhere between Joy Division and a David Lynch soundtrack. His contorted, funeral synth pop is drowned in melancholic reverbs, emitting an unnerving, hypnotic atmosphere with a muffled groove. This American’s cold wave won’t leave you numb. Over the top, its juggles the grotesque and the kitsch, finishing in a bath of brilliance. He’s one of those artists that divides critics, and blows away any conceptions – be it live or on record. On stage, the chilling melancholic sound on his records is replaced with a mad, energetic performance.
