Jon Hopkins is known for his delicate yet acrobatic electronica creations, but 2013 marked a big change of pace for the British producer, whose new and surprising turn has placed him at to the head of the British electronic music scene. The man whose previous collaborations include Brian Eno and Coldplay (as co-producer of Viva la Vida and on-stage musician, as well as a brief appearance on their latest album) returned to us last March with a fourth album, Immunity, where he is transformed into a dance floor magician, a purveyor of fire-starting techno hits such as “Open Eyes Signals.” Immunity has won him a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize and a place on everyone’s end-of-year lists. If these are not reasons enough to come and see him at this year’s festival, those who witnessed his show at last year’s after party have vowed not to miss round two.
