These last few years, Montreal has not only become one of the most vibrant and exciting musical scenes on the planet, but is also home to many wonderful expatriate stories. Folk musician Tim Beeler from New Hampshire, Matt May from New Jersey, and Australian Tim Keen met in Montreal as students and flat mates. Their home quickly became the rehearsal room of their trio (soon-to-become a four-piece band) Ought. Their first album “More Than Any Other Day”, was released this year by legendary record label Constellation (Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Thee Silver Mt. Zion…). Their punk and melodic art-rock is sublimated by Tim Beeler’s voice, with songs that are lifted by his charisma, rocky high pitched notes, and surprising almost-spoken vocals.
