When a DJ comes from Detroit, the legendary birth place of techno music, he best have the strength to live up to his town’s reputation. Luckily for Ryan Elliott, his Motor City lessons have been well learned, and gracefully updated. Bottle-fed on techno’s earliest warriors such as the Underground Resistance and its members Jeff Mills or Robert Hood, Ryan Elliot has been a talented DJ for ten years already, raising crowds wherever he plays, from the Sonar festival in Barcelona to the Guggenheim Museum in NYC. Since 2009 and his move to the European techno capital of Berlin, he has developed fine and precise production skills, working with Ostgut Ton, the record label of the Berghain club (home to Marcel Dettman or Ben Klock), or Ghostly International, something a little closer to his Detroit origins. It was about time for France to recognise his genius.
