At 23, Aleksandra Danton, AKA Shura, is one of the fledgling British R&B scene’s most promising names, but has become tired of being confined to a simple singer’s role, wanting to also twiddle knobs and finger faders. And so the young Russian-English singer has brilliantly launched her auto-producing career with a few well-placed remixes, such as the one for Jesse Ware, whose music is so close to her own, a blend of sweet R&B and 80’ pop. Her original creations such as “Touch” or the hit “Just Once,” have everyone, from Blood Orange to Cyril Hahn, convinced and applauding her, helping her reach the top. Is this the birth of a star?
