Once known as Little Loud, a moniker under which he had created excellent remixes of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti or Memory Tapes, William Phillips has, for two years now, chosen the name Tourist, but has proven that he is not just visiting. Proof be a recent EP, Patterns, that impressed the Disclosure bros. so much that they decided to release the EP on their own label, Method Records. His music blends a bit of house, an electronica-minded elegance, perfect post-dubstep bass-lines, and an especially strong sense of pop and soul, bolstered by some well chosen vocal collaborations with such artists as Will Heard or the English neo-soul prodigy Lianne La Havas. The young Londoner’s career is strangely reminiscent of that of his bosses, and the way things are going, he should, just like Disclosure, breakthrough the world wide charts in no time.
