En 18 ans et cinq albums studio, à chaque saut évolutif et à chaque nouvelle facette de leur existence, Iceage a exploré le thème de l’effondrement. Cet effondrement, ou le frisson d’en être proche, était une façon de jouer, de chanter et d’écrire : une descente vertigineuse à travers la vie en musique, la saisissant au vol. Tout au long de leur sixième album studio, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, le groupe dévoile une nouvelle facette de son éclat.

La passion et l’amour romantique ont généralement encadré les chansons d’Iceage comme une forme de résistance, mais tout au long de For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, ils s’expriment avec pureté et sans crainte. C’est à la fois amusant et aussi sérieux que jamais, grandissant et rayonnant à travers l’amour. Produit et mixé par le groupe (Elias Rønnenfelt, Dan Kjær Nielsen, Jakob Tvilling Pless, Johan S. Weith et Casper Morilla Fernandez) et Nis Bysted, l’album est lumineux et énergique. « Les premières chansons ont commencé à émerger immédiatement après la réalisation de Heavy Glory », mentionne Rønnenfelt, en référence à son album solo de 2024. « Ayant eu un exutoire pour des ballades dépouillées, il nous a semblé judicieux de canaliser un côté plus féroce de nous-mêmes pour la prochaine étape du groupe. »

Cette nouvelle étape ressemble à une course, mais dans une nouvelle direction ; une course pour rejoindre un endroit et quelqu’un, plutôt qu’une fuite ou une course vers le feu.

Over 18 years and five studio albums, with each evolutionary jump and a new vein of existing, Iceage have worked inside the idea of collapse. That collapse, or the thrill of being close to it, was a way of playing, singing and writing—a tumbling through life in song, catching it as it falls. Throughout the Danes’ sixth studio album, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, there’s another layer of sparkle to the band.

Passion and romantic love has typically framed Iceage’s songs as a form of resistance, yet throughout For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, it flows pure and unafraid. It’s both fun and as serious as ever, growing and glowing through love. Produced and mixed by the band (Elias Rønnenfelt, Dan Kjær Nielsen, Jakob Tvilling Pless, Johan S. Weith, and Casper Morilla Fernandez) and Nis Bysted, the album is bright and energetic. “The first songs started emerging immediately after making Heavy Glory,” Rønnenfelt mentions, referring to his 2024 solo album. “Having had an outlet for stripped-back balladry, it felt like the right thing to channel a more ferocious side of ourselves for the band’s next step.”

This next step sounds like running, but in a new direction; running to be somewhere and with someone, rather than running away or into the fire.
